Enrichment- Students are continuing to complete Math Superstars sheets weekly. Also, students are being challenged with a Weekly Stumper, which is one challenging word problem a week. Students who guess the Stumper correctly go in a drawing for 100 discipline dollars! Starters such as Place Value Riddle, Partner Poetry, and Guess the Estimate are used to start reading and math classes.
Science/Social Studies- We finished up our unit, Bones, Muscles, and Joints on Friday. Students will move to Social Studies class on Monday, where they will focus on what it takes to be a citizen of a community.
What are we up to?
Reading- We moved back to realistic fiction this week with a selection called "Seal Surfer." We will start a biography unit next week. Also, look for more UNRAAVEL practice to come home for homework!
Math- Students learned more about fractions this week. We learned what an equivalent fraction is and had tons of practice in class! We will move to improper fractions and mixed numbers soon.
Spelling List for next week:
puppies, flies, stories, skies, driest, candies, pennies, cried, ponies, bunnies, happier, funniest, easier, busiest
