Brandon Curry's birthday is January 7th. He describes himself as awesome & cool. His favorites: color-gold, food-pizza, hobby-playing video games, possession-DSI, and his favorite memory-when he had his birthday at the pit. If Brandon had one wish, it would be to fly through walls. If he could go on vacation anywhere, he would choose Hollywood. Brandon is most thankful for his parents.
What's Going On in Class...
In math, we started to learn about division. The students were introduced to new vocabulary (quotient, divisor, dividend) and we discussed items that could be dividied, such as money, food, etc.
In reading, we read The Garden of Abdul Gasazi by Chris Van Allsburg. This fantasy story wasa great way to practice inferencing when reading. Also, in language arts, we practiced using homophones. Those homophones can be tricky!
In science class, we started a unit on muscles, bones, and joints. The students are very excited about this unit! We played a Simon Says game to introduce several systems of the body and learned that we have bones for support, protection, and locomotion. Extra Credit Opportunity: Students can create a skeleton out of anything (pasta, art supplies, etc.) and label the bones of the body for an extra 100 test grade in science.
Students are continuing to be challenged by completing Math Superstars as well as tackling the Weekly Stumper, an application math word problem.
